Trail Permits

If you use trails maintained by the OFSC, Ontario law requires you to buy a Snowmobile Trail Permit.

Types of Trail Permits:

Seasonal Trail Permit: The price of the Seasonal Trail Permit is $250.00 but if purchased on or before December 1st of the year it is $200.00. The permit expires May 31st of the season of purchase. The permit is valid only in the province of Ontario and may be used only for Prescribed Trails operated by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs.

Replacement Permit: Replacement Permits are available for Seasonal Permits only and must be purchased from the club where you purchased your original permit. The original permit purchaser must fill out the application form and attach to it the original permit and the original receipt along with a $10.00 fee. If the original permit is not available, either lost or stolen, a Police Report is required to be filed and the club is to be provided with the Incident or Occurrence Number on the Replacement Permit Application Form. Please refer to the list below as to where to obtain your Replacement Permit.

3 Day Trail Permit: This permit must be purchased before travelling on the trails. 3 Day Permits will expire at midnight on the posted expiry date. 3 Day Permits issued after 4:00 pm for immediate use will include the balance of that day plus the following 3 days until midnight. A 3 Day Permit cannot be sold on the trail.

7 Day Trail Permit: This permit must be purchased before travelling on the trails. They expire at midnight on the posted expiry date. A 7 Day Permit cannot be sold on the trail.

Classic Permits: Classic permits must be purchased from the District 1 office. In order to do this please go to the District 1 web site, http://district1ofsc.ca/, where you will find an application form to be downloaded. You will also find the instructions needed to complete the form, the document(s) to send, the methods of payment, and where to send the application. Turn around time is expected to be 10 days. There is no early bird price.
